about that under commissioner comments, but not to expect them I'm sure. Please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Approval of the agenda. Any questions, concerns on the agenda before we move to approve?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed0:52

Yes. I move to approve. I'll

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed0:56

second. Thank you.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed1:01

Chair Taylor? Yes. Vice-Chair Intner? Yes. Commissioner Lear?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:05

Yes, motion passes. Thank you. And we have a guest speaker on

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:10

public comments. Peter, would you like to come up and share your thoughts? These are for items not on the agenda. And if you haven't been, if you're not familiar we'll certainly love to hear what you have to say. We just can't interact a lot since it's not an agendized item but we can bring it back later if that's what you're asking for.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed1:28

Yeah, no problem I'm relatively new in town and really love it and enjoy the park and what it has to offer sometimes Just sit in the park by the fountain. And one thing struck me, though, was that it didn't seem... Or I should put it differently. I wish there were more people around me and who I could interact with and meet. And so I proposed an idea to Christy a couple months ago, and that was that I would be willing to spearhead an installation of like a... It's a game that they play in the South of France called Petanque It's like bocce ball or lawn bowling and it doesn't take much room and there's so much bark dust there I thought what a great place for one two little courts, and they're generally 15 meters long four meters wide and You know if you've been to France you see all the old guys in the park.

You know throwing the hollow metal balls at a target How do

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed2:35

you spell it?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed2:36

P-E-T A-N

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed2:37

Q-U-E Sorry, I didn't mean to put

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed2:44

you on the spot. It's an excuse to socialize and it's cool and it seems like it belongs in Libbey Park in my opinion. It just seems like it would be a great fit and I don't think there'd be much cost and I would have be happy to sort of sponsor it and lead the work efforts And if you think that would be good idea we could find a spot for it Yeah, that's it.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed3:15

OK, maybe we can place it on next month's agenda so we can discuss it and maybe get some cost estimates. Do you call it Patanki Ball? Is that what it's just called?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed3:27

It's Patanki Ball, B-O-C-C E. I think it's a very similar game. And if you want, I put out some information. Sure. You take it. There's

ElectedKim MangMayor Pro TemProposedvoiceprint 0.803:48

some

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed3:48

rules and so forth. You

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed3:50

can

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed3:51

play singles, doubles, triples, and you just try to throw your balls and have them land next to the target. And it's, you compete against another team.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed3:59

Almost like, what's that one? Cornhole. Kind of like cornhole but similar. Yeah!

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed4:04

I mean it's the

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed4:05

same

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed4:05

kind of vibe. Throwing something at someone.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed4:10

It looks like it's really similar to a horseshoe size footprint almost, right? Like about that size.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed4:17

Usually on sort of real finely graveled ground cinder.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed4:22

Oh interesting, okay. Well thank you for sharing. Oh cool,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 5Proposed4:29

okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed4:34

Thank you. Oh you got the same picture, okay. OK. Thank you for that. On our consent calendar, we have the minutes for the August 6th meeting. They're pretty brief. Did you have a chance to look them over? Brenda, I don't think you were here. She's not here. But I looked them over on the web page. Oh, very good. OK. I don' have any changes of substance

0:05 – 0:1656 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed5:11

I'll make a motion to approve. Motion to approve the August 6, 2026 Ojai Parks and Recreation Commission minutes.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed5:19

And I'll second. Thank you. Okay, and moving right on to our presentation and discussion items. We have the Sarasota playground reconstruction update we have a recommendation to receive the staff report discuss and recommend the list of Recommended playground equipment structures for the Sarasota playground from the playground ad hoc committee And there's a report in your Packet I Will I have a comment before we receive that, just one second.

I wrote some notes.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed5:59

OK. Also before we jump into the discussion, I did want to make a moment to clarify the detail from last month about the company. It's not Play Well, it's Play World. So that was just a clerical mistake.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed6:25

My understanding, I think I'm on. Thank you. That it isn't PlayWorld. It's Dave Bang and that is one of their catalogs?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed6:35

Well no. PlayWorld is a company.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed6:37

Yes they...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed6:39

Yeah.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed6:40

We're working through Dave Bang, correct? Through Dave Bang. OK. Correct. And through Dave Bang there's more than one catalog. There's Berliner. Play

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed6:47

World. I just wanted to clarify it's not Play Well. It's Play World. Yeah, yeah. That's it.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed6:52

Play Well. That's

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed6:52

it. But I think he carries both, right? Because I made that mistake in the agenda. There is both. Oh, he doesn't carry Play World? He doesn't do Play World but there is both. OK, yes. Yes.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed6:59

He only carries Play... I got it. So the report last month should have said Play World.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed7:04

No actually it should have said Dave Bang. Because to really clarify on this whole process, we aren't working with just one catalog or with one playground equipment company. We're working with a firm that works with multiple catalogs, multiple companies where you can get the equipment. Just because...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed7:20

No, that's okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed7:21

because I'm

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed7:22

also... You haven't selected

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed7:23

one catalog.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed7:24

I'm also aware that there is some confusion that some commission members may have and experiencing frustration in possibly wanting more information. What I wanted to find out here is if you could clarify what information you did need, so that we can come back with a more robust Report or whatever you wanted to see regarding that after your update though, of course, but Just let let me know, you know, and if you if you have other ideas that you want the ad hoc You know the playground ad hoc to know as well to come back or to review That's things that we could discuss too. So Okay,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed8:08

that actually goes right along before if you don't mind before we go into the update. I just wanted to do exactly that and to backtrack and just from as a chair setting the agenda like my perspective to keep the commission moving like the commission meetings moving along To not have to learn something tonight and then say, okay you have all next month to research it. And then it just like delays things if we could... Like this commission is being asked to provide direction or make a recommendation but the material facts, we don't get them. If we're getting them orally, we're getting them for the first time tonight And we don't have any time to research the factual stuff. So for me, what I would like to see is in the reports, like for this particular thing, I'd like to know that we've had a previous action.

The commission made a motion last meeting. We talked about making the purchase separate from the install because of the grant deadline. I would like to see the staff report say, you know, this is where we're at. This is where we were. This is where we're at. And I think it's important to just have that context, to update on the written details that we talk about.

My goal is pretty simple. We want to have the information ahead of time so we can research it, so that the public has it, so that we have it and we can have a productive meeting. That's really what I guess...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed9:37

Sounds great. Kind of piggyback on that Because it is it's for the Commission, but it's also really for the public and the public is coming to it each time There are new people so if we give them an incomplete picture without the background because typically my reference point to back when we back You know too many two years ago Is we would have a background section? And the background section would set the stage for understanding the project why we're doing it where we're doing it kind of some specificity To how much we've already gotten done in the process, where we are in the process. And then it would introduce a discussion for that time. Like recommendation background overview? So it's repetitive. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. That was like the format.

I remember that. It's a little repetitive but that means that any time the public comes to it because people are coming to this all at very different times.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed10:21

Different stages of the

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed10:22

project. We want to make sure that whatever staff report is coming out Helps them to understand what we're going to talk about and what we're trying to accomplish so it invites everyone in because without the background I mean, so every time we that are written. I think the hope is to read it from the perspective of someone who's never heard of this And we're not saying it has to be

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed10:43

super lengthy but just some deep just a snapshot of you know that The history kind of lead the background leading up to it. And then and then like for example, if I would have had like some links I would have liked to been able to To click on them and just see like oh yeah I can see where the ad hoc is gonna talk about this tonight and I have a little bit more knowledge Like it doesn't mean The oral part is where I think we really

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed11:08

go

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed11:08

come

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed11:08

in and so looking at the current staff report I think I'd put background, discussion and then typically the last thing is the recommendation. And that's where staff has their opportunity to give us their specific recommendation. It isn't what's absolutely going to happen but with all the research that they've done and the information you're bringing to us and you've analyzed it as you know then you present what you think next steps are. And that would be the last piece as a staff recommendation. So I think it's kind of almost like if we got a template together, where we have the same questions we're asking every time. Sounds good. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I like the background.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed11:45

Recommendation, background.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed11:47

Well actually, I think recommendation comes to the very end because that's the staff's time to participate. So start with background and then go for update. Yes. And then what we're going to discuss tonight. And I think that would help. Is that does that make sense?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed12:01

It makes sense.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed12:02

Yeah,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed12:02

and I think that we should work towards that for sure so we will

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed12:06

well and then I think the The thing with that is is that the only way that works is if that process starts early this month

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed12:15

Yes,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed12:15

so that it's not an end-of-the-month challenge because then everyone is on their heels

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed12:20

and it's hard to get

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed12:20

together.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed12:21

Yeah,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed12:22

urgent. And yeah, definitely was frustrating. And then I just would say also just not specific to this but speaking on the playground before we move on like the piggybacking presentation was, you know I've heard of the term and stuff but like the source well links to the other projects that we're piggybacking on. I think that's really easy to include so that if we're going to piggyback on another city they have all the RFP that source well has, you know the RFP, the entire bidding process is there Pricing all that's included and it just seems easy to put a link in the document so that the public can click on it And you know if they choose to come and weigh in on something specific. That has to do with that At least they'll have an idea of what?

We're working with yeah, we will I don't know that we've

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed13:19

identified what Project were sourcing yet right haven't identified anything So that's what we have this update for and then we'll come back next month Okay The

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed13:30

project

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed13:30

well, this update is gonna be the update from the playground ad hoc committee. I don't know what What you no? No

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed13:39

that the source Well and all of that we I have not heard yet what we're piggybacking on We don't have any of

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed13:46

those details So I need to talk to Public Works about that because nothing has moved since The meetings that we had yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed13:53

My understanding from researching it was that when we piggyback on something it has to be something I think the term would be, you know Like similar like and kind like it. It can't it has to be a similar project Just that Dave Banks is done business with another city I don't it wasn't my understanding that that qualifies it has to be a similar Like if we were to write the RFP, it would look very similar to the successful RFP that you would find on SourceWell. That's my understanding but I might be misunderstanding but I think we should know that right? I mean certainly the ad hoc should maybe have a meeting with Public Works and you or something to understand what that is because there's a lot of sources. There's a lot of documents in there and you can see pricing and stuff.

OK. OK, so I'm glad that we're all on the same page with that. Thank you for that. We had the same questions. Yeah, we did. So OK, so we are going to get a staff update or just the ad hoc update? Or is

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed15:00

it combined? So it was going to be the ad hoc update but I do have another update to add to my first one and this is some positive news. So, I received confirmation this week that the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation has extended our grant performance and contract period to June 30th, 2029. Oh great! Excellent. So we have time... But let's not wait okay? Let's not wait. Okay. We can forget that I said that

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed15:31

and we could keep moving forward. Okay but they've secured the funds those are safe until we get the project done. That's less urgent. Okay, I feel better about the delay or that don't you know waiting for an answer. We're doing it right? Okay So why don't you before the ad hoc gives the update would you mind bring explain to the Commission about the Dave? Dave Bang's associate meeting and how that came to light, because I thought too based on the report we're meeting with Playwell which I guess we don't sell or Playworld or whatever like a playground company but we're meeting with kind of like a distributor.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:08

Yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed16:08

so Playworld

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:09

does not sell their own equipment you have to go through another distributor so that is Dave Bang

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed16:16

And did they

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:16

approach us, or

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed16:18

have we bought from them before? Or how did we find them?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:20

Not that I know of. But we could have. I didn't find anything that says that we've

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed16:25

bought from them before. I thought we found them through SourceWell.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:28

No. How did we find them? So I found them on a cover of a magazine, it's just stuff that I looked through, I was looking through all the magazines when I said Playwell, I meant Playworld but we found out that they do work with Sourcewell so you know it would be an easier process. And so how did we go from

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed16:48

Sourcewell to Dave Bank?

0:16 – 0:2639 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed16:53

She just found them. And then he qualified as working with us. So

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed16:59

it was actually Public Works that mentioned Sourcewell because I don't deal with, you know, those types of things and they said that their actually PlayWorld is included with the Sourcewell so that's why Public Works mentioned that it would be a much easier process just to buy the equipment But we can speak to them if you have more detailed questions because I might

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed17:23

not have the answer. We got to that meeting and at that meeting, I think I thought it was PlaySource because I had seen that somewhere. I looked already at PlayWorld, I looked at PlaySource and then we were on a PlayWorld, I looked at that and then that meeting it was all of a sudden Dave Bang. And so, okay. Well let's look Dave Bang up because I think you probably did it the same way I did while you were sitting on the meeting and then we had the rep from Dave Bang. So then you and I well go ahead is that do you have anything? It's just for the equipment. That's

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed17:57

all. Yeah.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed17:59

And so then we had a meeting Yes, together about after looking at Dave Bang's site and one of the big things is they rep multiple catalogs from multiple companies. And so we sat down and did a review of what was available regionally and what kinds of products we thought would be you know We put together a

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed18:20

list that we sent off

not transcribed≈17s of audible speech the AI couldn’t make out▸ listen
UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed18:37

To Kristi and to Lindy for Public Works. And did Eric get it as well? Eric... Our email? Yes, yes, yes. Okay. So they... Who's Eric? He is the rep from... Oh

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed18:47

okay,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed18:47

okay. And so we're going forward with you know and I'll share it with you guys. It didn't make it in time to get in the packet but happy to share it. Yes. And happy to share that if you are interested in looking stuff up and seeing what we're looking at because it's actually a lot of fun. Yeah. Dave bang calm I think is

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed19:08

you just go under catalogs and there's just it's amazing what's available

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed19:13

And so we really need some guidance. It sounds like from Lindsay is as to if we can pick Like is there a project that he's done that will qualify for piggybacking for the brand? That you guys are kind of sourcing.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed19:29

We actually put in their Huntington Beach project that we found okay, but it has some pictures that we would really like and some of the equipment that we would really like and Gave that link to them and it's a different it's not Playworld. It's Berliner but Because we really liked a lot of what they did. And then the other thing is, it could be multiple companies and you do different parts with different companies and you can pick and choose. That's not uncommon. Right. To see one piece from one company that you're really interested in and then another piece from another, and pull it all together.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed20:01

Yeah as long as the color themes aren't like the primary colors versus like the natural colors that would figure out a bunch. So we really

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed20:09

need some guidance. I feel like yes, I feel like we keep starting but we're missing the starting point.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed20:17

Well, I think we just need to I think whether it's the commission or the ad hoc that takes the next steps It will obviously I think it would be easier to do it out. You know during this next month but to get with Christie and Engineering I think we

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed20:32

need to get clarification clear on If we're piggybacking and we're doing it through source well What is which what are we sourcing on source? Well because it has all these different contracts SourceWell is a way that for, just a little explanation because it's complicated. I'm only beginning to understand it. Same. Think cities, agencies, schools who public agencies that buy materials and products not services but materials and products these companies like SourceWell do these really big RFPs and then they create contracts with all of these different companies with set price points So what they do as part of the RFP that source will hold, this is my understanding and I could correct me if I'm wrong. But then you can use that contract that they've already agreed to with those prices.

I think Sourcewell is like a database of how you would describe them. There's some confusion as to whether we need to reference a specific project that's done with similar materials, like literally similar to what we would want to buy or if it is just picking a contract with a particular brand and then knowing what's on their contract and what the prices are because it's a discounted price if you go through these large source welders like three or four others that

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed21:50

Because in order to be awarded the original RFP, they would have had to have been competing

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed21:55

for that agency. Yes and it was all negotiated so...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed22:00

Yeah, it is really complex. I just think that Public Works might have to help give you a little guidance on and maybe just to do your own due diligence look at the links that you know on SourceWell. And

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed22:16

I got on there and this is not to say that I didn't find my way to the right spot but I could find that they had contracts and who they had them with but none of the details of the contracts So I don't know if you maybe need access. I don't know, do we have an

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed22:28

account? Have you looked at SourceWell yet, Christy?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 2Proposed22:31

I can find out if

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed22:33

it's for public view or what we need to do to be able to see some stuff. Okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed22:38

We just want to make sure that we're complying with our, especially when we're making recommendations to purchase hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of material. We want to make sure that we're not sole sourcing without piggybacking properly.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed22:54

So I think we've gotten a lot done. You and I had a very good discussion and really looked at a lot of stuff, and kind of honed in on some priorities for accessibility and inclusion, and the kinds of things that we're hoping that it will create, and the different types of spaces. So there's gathering spaces where kids play together collaboratively, and then some more individualized spaces.

It's super exciting.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed23:18

And Dave Bangs will help us do the layout as well,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed23:22

right? That's part of their service. This is a unique thing to playground equipment is the design is free. So you're going to buy all the equipment from them, and they throw in the design as part of it. So that is not a separate line item. And that's how it's still... You're buying just the product but they do the design for you. But it's the kind of design... I mean, it's like drop this, drop that. They put it together. And surfacing is always going to be a question, how much... How we make it as accessible as possible? What materials? Or what we can afford to... They'll help do all that kind

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed23:57

OK. Design

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed23:58

work.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed23:58

And then I know that we're going to be short in public works come, I think December, I heard. Do we have a goal to get the RFP out for the construction of it? Or at least get it drafted before we have a staff turnover? That would be

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed24:14

great. I think so. I think we have to know what we're, because of the way we're doing this, we need the equipment and the design before we can go farther forward with that.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed24:25

I wonder if we can use the old RFP, like as a template to like... Yeah. Just seems like the RFPs take so long to get drafted especially if we're at the holidays and stuff. Maybe they

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed24:37

could basically build it out and then we'll have the details.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed24:39

Just because she's so familiar with the project thus far?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed24:42

I was going to ask, I didn't quite understand what it means to piggyback off of another. Like I'm pretty familiar with SourceWell and purchasing through SourceWell.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed24:49

That's just kind of the term that they use so the projects that are vetted through and stored at SourceWell when another government agency comes in and they go oh look this is on here and you can see all the documents and see how they did the RFP and you go okay I'm gonna pick this and it's they call it piggybacking on that vetted project Okay. That's just the term. Using it as a template? It's like a slang. No, you don't even have to do it. You just... The council is my understanding again this is totally new I'm learning also but for and Christy if you step in if you if I'm not correct or if you know more We can purchase the playground equipment based off of that RFP, pricing-wise. And the city can purchase the equipment and then they just have to do the RFP for the installation so it separates the two.

Now I will just throw this out there and maybe... Don't be mad. I'm going to ask, since the deadline is extended, is there a benefit in doing a package? We are going to have to do an RFP anyways for the installation. Is there a benefit in doing one RFP? Since we have time. You mean for both? Yeah. We can't. We can or we can't? We cannot. That we have to do two separate RFPs always.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed26:14

Well, that was what I came away with very clearly under $2 million you can't do that 2 million and over there's some other this is...I'm just repeating what I've heard. I can't explain.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed26:25

If it's under 2 million and you have to do the RFP for installation I'm saying couldn't you because it would still be under 2 million

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed26:32

wouldn't... No, it has to be over if you want to do them as one. Together.

0:26 – 0:3139 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed26:37

So you have to do two separate RFPs? Yeah. Which we don't have to do if we piggyback.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed26:42

OK, all

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed26:42

right

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed26:42

that makes

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed26:42

sense.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed26:43

That's my understanding. OK.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed26:48

So question, because you said to go back. Our next step you mentioned something about diving deeper into Sourcewell. Because at this point we had sent recommendations so thinking is it in the reps hands to start like crafting and seeing or do we

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed27:02

need to go back?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed27:03

I think

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed27:03

that my understanding is that if the ad hoc committee can come up with a recommendation We need to probably run it through Public Works to make sure that it's viable, right? A viable recommendation and then bring it to the Commission for public input.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed27:23

I think that the thought is this we give them this recommendation they have staff's recommendation they have the survey and I think typically they would just produce like three or four different designs And you know with different goals in mind like we'd like to see something with full accessibility, but we're not sure that's in our budget.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed27:43

Okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed27:44

So we're not putting budget on it yet right now We're putting on this is what you know? We would really like and then

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed27:49

that

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed27:49

would

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed27:49

come back to this Commission and then the public can weigh in and we can have a discussion and then we'll make A recommendation on yeah, so I think the next step would be that based on your report tonight That you have kind of a manufacturer that you like and you'd like to ensure that Public Works is on board with that manufacturer. Is that something that we need to make, have a recommendation for? Can you just work with staff

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed28:17

to I think now that we've got our recommendation in and we, I've seen that the rep is happy to have another meeting with us. So now that he has what we've given him it's probably a really good time to have another meeting so we can all be on the phone together and have a discussion because we had questions in our recommendations too that we didn't have answers to about the equipment installation and some other stuff. We should

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed28:39

probably just touch bases with Lindy before that to make sure that particular model or manufacturer is okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed28:48

She can be included on the meeting and then she was in our last

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed28:51

meeting and I think that's then we could work

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed28:53

together

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed28:53

at the same time.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed28:54

Yeah,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed28:55

no absolutely. I think that's our ad hoc committee next step yeah okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed29:01

so just a update and then maybe in next month we might have enough material to make a recommendation to move forward by next month you think? Or December maybe?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed29:12

We'll see October, November. Well and I think the goal and then for our staff report it will be robust and there'll be a lot of information in there and then we'll have everyone able to see everything that we're seeing

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed29:27

I'd really like the, I think the public is going to show up with a lot of input. They did before and it was really a nice interactive process and they had a lot to, they just had a lot to share and a lot great ideas so it would be really nice to have that. And maybe we even have to have it for two, depending on the turnout. Maybe we can have it for two meetings.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed29:51

I think what yes and what maybe is that if we come up with something, we get more information, we go back, we come back again. It isn't always a one and done or even two and done kind of thing to get to the right design. But I also think that recommendation Basically preparing a draft of the RFP for construction, and then filling in the details as we know them is not a bad idea.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed30:26

Yeah, to maybe ask if she can get going on it? Maybe at your next meeting that you schedule, you guys can talk about that.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed30:31

That sounds good.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed30:32

OK. We don't need to agendize that though. We'll just put playground update and then hopefully we can meet with them. You can meet with them prior too so we have enough time to get the report

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed30:43

drafted. I think since we're doing online they're probably pretty quickly. I think he's available. It sounded like he's ready.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed30:50

What was the name? I know you said it, but what was the name of the... Dave Bangs? No.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed30:57

Berliner.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed30:57

Berliner. On

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed31:02

Dave Bang's website.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed31:03

They

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed31:03

have catalogues on there. Yes, go to the Catalogues tab and they also have featured projects too that are fun to look at.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed31:11

Okay. Wonderful. That's really exciting. Okay, and moving any other comments or questions Moving on to our Solar shade at Libby update.

0:31 – 0:3633 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed31:30

Yes So at the August 6th 2026 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting during the managers report it included a discussion of a proposed new solar structure at Libbey Park Following further review, it has been decided that this installation will not proceed. Staff is now considering an alternate location that would minimize impacts on the open space because I think what I mentioned then is it might be in a grass area so they're not going to be doing that any longer. They're looking at different areas.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:04

Still at Libby?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed32:05

Still at Libby though yeah possibly over Blanche I'm not going to have that on the

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:11

future agenda items unless you have an

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed32:13

update we can add at the last minute.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:29

That's good. Unless, are you okay with that? Are you guys wanting...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed32:34

It would be nice to know what they're discussing when they're discussing it so that we're in the discussion versus just

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:41

hearing what happens.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed32:41

I'll

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:41

just add it for a brief update then.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed32:43

Yeah. I just mean that so that it's not already happened when we hear about it before when they're having those discussions. Yeah. I think that would be helpful.

ElectedKim MangMayor Pro TemProposedvoiceprint 0.8032:53

Okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed32:56

Trying to keep better notes on future stuff. OK, Sarzotti Snack Bar or I'm sorry before I move on any other comments or concerns on the shade? And I'll put it on the agenda for next month and we can just have a if there's no update we'll just say no update. OK. Sarzotti Snack bar update.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed33:13

Yes, so as you know last Friday was going to be the inspection, the final inspection for the Sarasota Snack Bar services. The health department inspection did require that the city is to replace our refrigerator freezer because it is failing. So, new refrigerator freezer anticipated to arrive tomorrow or Monday. Which of course would be Tuesday for us because Monday's a holiday.

It is the only remaining item required by health department for the concession stand to open. They also did say that we needed to replace our water heater. It is not commercial. So, water heater will also need to be replaced but it does not need to be replaced prior to the stand opening but it is urgent they said so we will work on that. The new snack bar operator anticipates being able to open seven days after the successful delivery and installation of the refrigerator freezer

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed34:23

And who's installing it? The refrigerator? Yeah.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed34:29

Stephenson's?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed34:30

Oh, like the

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed34:30

person we're buying it from?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed34:31

Yeah, Stephensons. So will

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed34:33

it be installed next Tuesday? It actually might be our maintenance department if they just drop it off. Bree has been working with them so I can find out but they might just drop it off and we have to pull

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed34:43

it in. So we're thinking September 15th?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed34:52

Yeah, okay. Yeah, good timing there are so many people at that park right now so many

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed34:59

and what is the report on here says no fiscal impact but what does the fiscal impact on that purchase?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed35:07

It is around 5,000. I could get you the exact details. And how much is the water heater? Do you know? I'm just curious. About 2,500. That has not been ordered yet though. We're still doing some research. Public Works is helping with that.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed35:23

Yeah. That's a lot and the stove was 10 so almost 17,500 on that. That's a lot. Okay, okay great. Of course. I think there's a question. Oh, I'm

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed35:33

sorry. Right by the fields? The softball fields? Yeah. Ojai Noodle House. Uh-huh yeah.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed35:47

Okay any um any other questions or that's exciting very exciting And I think that'll be if they open up what isn't there softball what's happening at the park that week we have This is a softball on Tuesday

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed36:02

Softball just ended. They just had championships so it might be a while for that start again way. So on that field Oh, is that just practice

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed36:14

and games too?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed36:16

And then last night I was there pretty late and there was a lot of people in the field for soccer. Yeah, just for practice. No, you should go by their... Is it crazy? They have a soccer league now.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed36:28

Oh, for

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed36:28

adults? Started a soccer league for

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed36:29

adults. Oh! I played that in my youth. I played co-ed and that was an experience. I'll never forget that. I wasn't a very aggressive player. Okay, thank you for that. 915. Request on that?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed36:57

Since it'll be between meetings. Could you send updates to all of us when things are happening like the opening and then the days and the hours?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed37:05

And

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed37:06

until we get The other two commissioners on The city email which needs to happen We need to use their other emails because they're not getting anything. Mm-hmm Under my yeah, but but until then just assume they don't have it and send it out that way before all those kinds of events Thank you

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed37:29

Okay our youth programming review I I know Jim had some input on this. So maybe we can talk about the staff report, but what we would like to see for next month and we can bring it back, but maybe with more data so we can... Let me see here. I

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed37:53

have an overview of what we're doing and pull some numbers out of the system to, you know, what our participation is, what programs do really well where we're getting a lot of program participation break it down maybe by sports activities like a real kind of robust staff report about all the programming, what we' re doing... Like the

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed38:14

top three of each?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed38:15

No no, like kind of a spreadsheet if you give us everything you're doing and show us the numbers and how it you know how we're doing on it Where we've had increases and where we've had decreases, and new programs. And you know what's new in the last two years? Because I mean before that it was the before times.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed38:32

Christy remind me what software is used for registration? ActiveNet. Does ActiveNet have a report system on it? Is it easy to pull numbers or? Sure hope so.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed38:46

We'll check. We've done this before years ago back in the before times. We used to get reports on programming, you know which programs how much you know increases decreases where we were seeing But but I think this will be just youth focused. Okay Yeah,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed39:04

and imagining act they have a way that you could query numbers. They should yeah. Yeah, they definitely should

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed39:11

And I think that so if I understood the item correctly, it was to we just got the commission to give an overview of what we're offering. We can discuss it which ones are you know or do we have any gaps? You know maybe the public can see that that's an agendized item kind of like the gentleman that came tonight like Do you have an idea that would fit in this discussion item that you think would fill this gap and hope would be that we could then you know I'm

not transcribed≈19s of audible speech the AI couldn’t make out▸ listen
UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed40:01

Some of the questions, there may be things we pick out that we want to focus on as a commission to help with. To help grow it or be able to brainstorm but I think this is like the framework to understanding at first and then talking about specifics

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed40:16

And I think this is kind of a living item that we will probably have to bring back over several months because it'll grow. And usually when we put something like this on the agenda, especially when it has a lot of details, then the public will reach out. I get calls throughout the month like oh what's going on here? And then again anyone listening please come to our meetings. We would love to have your input.

But that's how I see it happening, is that the idea is get the data out in a report so that we can kind of process it, discuss it and then be like oh there's only five people at this. How can we grow this program?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed40:55

It could be an ever-changing document. Yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed40:57

like a living. And I think it's interesting to know who we're serving Mm-hmm. What age groups do we what you know, what if we block it out into different age groups? Who do we serve really well where we you know that'll help us to see if there's gaps I also think it's always nice to know who were serving in and out Of the city and I think that data has been in there before I don't It's just really interesting to you know to have kind of a picture

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed41:23

I think we spoke about it last meeting. Jim mentioned just from my personal experience, I think we do have a gap because of COVID everything being shut down those that generation was our you know those were the feeder programs you know whether it was the five and six year olds that then missed out on the seven eight nine activities and I think that generation is now just about graduated if you were at that impressionable age And so I think a look at what age group, you know we're serving and how that's feeding those older programs. I think it'll be really interesting to see how those numbers play out.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed42:04

So I

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed42:04

will just put an update on that.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed42:06

With that agenda item you'll help work on that? Okay.

0:42 – 0:4720 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed42:13

Programming review... I mean, I can't have the data but we can get it on the agenda and kind of frame it. Okay and then our last item discussion item would be the community aquatics program update. We have a staff report? Yes. And we can go over that Excited to hear about that.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed42:38

Yeah, so the summer open and lap swim program operated from June 28th through August 18th school did start on the 19th during which the pool welcomed a total of 1,696 participants staffing for the season included 570 hours from lifeguards and 26 hours from recreation leaders amounting to 596 staff hours overall Now that school is back in session, the pool schedule has shifted to Sundays which was the same time during summer. Sundays 2-6pm and then we have also started up Mondays and Wednesdays from 645-845 pm.

The Ojai Recreation Department encourages the community to follow their Facebook and Instagram accounts for the latest updates regarding pool scheduling and activities. That's where we'll post You know, any changes, any updates we go straight there. Number one. So yeah it's been pretty good and you know there is talk of opening more nights right now it's just some of the lifeguards are in sports so we're waiting to see how the schedules go. How many do we have on staff still? We still have the same amount everybody's still on staff. That's great! Everybody's still around but they're just in their sports

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed43:56

And are all our lifeguards, I'm sorry I didn't use it this summer. Are they all youth or do we have some adult lifeguards? Some adult lifeguards. So they're able to okay maybe staff when the kids are not available for sports or whatever. Yeah yeah It would be really

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed44:10

interesting. The lake is in its final throes. This weekend is the last of the water park. Oh if we can carry over any... It'd be interesting to see if there are people there that would like to work during the year that we could pick up Mm-hmm. Oh, that's really interesting just because a lot of those are I'm a lot of college kids too But some of those know a lot work with them to see who our high schoolers and reach out to them so that we have it like a deeper bench mm-hmm Because if that's part of the party you can have him like on a call Is that part of what's limiting the access at this point is lifeguards?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed44:43

Yeah And it was it was sort of a trial in the beginning to see if people did really come on the week nights and So we've had an average of about maybe 10 people a night right now, so... Are most of them lap

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed44:57

swimming or just recreational? Both.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed44:59

I would recommend... Well it's been really hot

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed45:01

too,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed45:01

so I

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed45:02

imagine...

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed45:03

Is it and

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed45:03

it's heated slightly, right? I know not everybody reads the Ojai Valley News but there's a certain subset of people that do and it would be nice to do an article like you guys could submit a little this was what the summer was this is what we're in now we're transitioning into The I'm just going to say, I think it swings to the older set who have the paper. I still have the paper.

But we don't have as much access always with that group of people. So it might be good to use that each time we're changing seasons or kind of trying to give updates there. As

not transcribed≈13s of audible speech the AI couldn’t make out▸ listen
UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed45:50

a reminder, we have access to the pool.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed45:53

Yeah. And then what about our swim lessons continue? Is YMCA continuing to do their programming? Okay, and are we I know it's not our programming but do we promote that? Since we're not providing it. I think we should promote it

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed46:11

We do have the link on the rec department's website under aquatics So it's got like the daily times and then it says Saturdays swimming lessons through YMCA with a link And then the Sunday time

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed46:23

so if they were to do an article in the paper That would be a great thing to put in there in the same article Yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed46:32

How many people did you say are coming for the Wednesday 640, the two hours?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed46:36

Oh, the Monday and the Wednesday. About 10 people averaging per night.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed46:41

And then to refresh my memory they pay by the hour or by the session and what's the cost? Five dollars.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed46:50

I think it definitely should go in paper. The Sunday, the 2-6 I'm

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed47:20

I'm going

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed47:36

Yeah, so it would be interesting to understand what lap swimmers would want. And Sunday mornings might be... Well this is kind of like the after

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed47:43

work route is how I kind of put on a Sunday. Yeah? Yeah.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed47:48

Sunday we've gotten up to over 100 participants on a Sunday and it's still at 60 something. So the hours are good and we haven't heard of any changes. And it would be interesting

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed47:59

if we could extend the hours. I was

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed48:00

wondering if we could get more lifeguards from the off-season, like to you know or even if you picked up one more right? Like that you can

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed48:11

stagger them. Well because lap swimmers are a lot of our morning people like a lot of them do it more in the morning than in the afternoon but just an interesting thing to try and see if we can figure out what people are looking for on the Sunday.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed48:22

Is there availability early morning There's I

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed48:26

believe you guys have a whole it's available to you the whole day on Sunday. Sunday is yeah Yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed48:36

We

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed48:39

wouldn't know unless we did a trial. That's how we kind of got to the 2-6 is just by trial, but I'm curious. Did you already do like 10-2? On Sunday no. No? I just wonder how many people would come.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed48:52

I heard that people are busy Sunday mornings and they won't come out and they do like family breakfasts and family things so that's why we made it later as well.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed49:00

Well maybe if we could do the article in the paper we could do a small survey. At the same time if we can get the article well, just Just potentially to see how you know

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed49:13

I have noticed lately. I'm not sure who's running them but on Facebook there'll be a Question that pops up associated with something that the city is doing and it'll say like take the poll I think it might be though Ohio Valley News right? Yeah, they did do it a few times. Yeah I wonder if they would be willing to do that and ask, like, would 12-2 you be interested? Or do you like the hours 2-6? What do you do when you come? Are you interested

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed49:36

in lap swimming or are you interested in free swim and see who we're serving.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed49:39

They usually had two or three questions on the thing. I don't know maybe something we can coordinate with them on. Okay. All right, great any other questions on that? No, thank you. Thank you. Okay and our Kind of covered the main ad hoc there. So I think unless you have anything else to add Nope, that's a that's it. But if you need any

0:49 – 0:546 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed49:59

help doing anything, please reach out Yeah, thank you

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed50:05

And then under commission member reports, I just have one thing. I met with IT earlier today because I have an older phone and they had to really struggle to get it up and running so right now I can only check my email at my computer. I can't check it on a wireless device but when the new iPhone 18s come out we'll come back and get one. So be patient if you send me an email You probably should send me a text to say just until I get the phone because I won't be checking it. Like, it's not going to ping. I can't even check it on this phone. So know that and then I had IT research who had logged in and got their accounts up and going. And so Commissioner Bailey has not and neither has Commissioner Munich So I was wondering if you could mail these to their address for me.

And then maybe just with like a cover letter that says this needs to be set up and then just some background for everyone James were sharing that It's to comply with some I think it's really about transparency and it makes it really easy for them to do like the public records. But I think it was some case law to San Jose but anyways, it's here and then I think that would be helpful why I'm guessing that's why they're not here tonight, but Probably could up the communication. I know they want it to go through there but in the In the interim, probably need to text and do a better job following up on not a group text but just like an individual text to say are you coming? I knew we had a quorum tonight so I wasn't so worried about it.

Okay, so that's the only update that I have coming directly And then just again we kind of already talked about it That would just to I like the idea of having a historic file. So when someone like that You know Like our gentleman that was here tonight It's new to the area if he goes back on our Commission agendas and he looks at the thing you can click on the link and the staff reports will just basically tell him what we're doing and And get away from kind of that verbal stuff. So, that's perfect. That's really all I have to report on.

How about you guys? I'm good. And thank you to our youth commissioner. It's not really my decision, and I guess I can agendize it, but it might just be a staff decision. I was talking with James about doing an email for our youth commissioner because we don't have any way of communicating with you. Yeah, and that's what they don't want so maybe can you so I mentioned it to him and I know there's a cost involved but there is a less expensive one for It's kind of restrictive. Oh One one other update Can you follow up with James because I said I would talk about it tonight to get just a youth commissioner email But something very exciting And I know we have to be somewhat careful with serial meetings and complying with the Brown Act, but like We will be able to log on through the computer To set like agendas and it'll be a Google.

It's not really a Google Doc I think it's a Microsoft product but it's like a live document so that we can edit it and You it'll access can be I think you can set up new like you could do one with Christy, Brenda and Sage that could be like the playground ad hoc document type of a thing. And then like for the agenda it could be myself and Sage and you and others plenty of staff just not more than two commissioners per document but instead of having to do like A word doc, PDF, then a bunch of group emails. We can just go to that cloud I think is how I understand it. It's all new. I haven't actually logged in so I don't know how it works yet but it did sound really user friendly. Okay. It sounded easy if you have a computer. You can't do it from your phone So I think that will be really helpful in getting our drafts set too, because we'll be able to see.

Like with the other Google Docs you can see the changes or you could like see in real time what's changing so I think that'll be great.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed54:31

Yeah it's in real time. You know there could be multiple people in there at the same time even. You know how sometimes it'll lock it and you can't touch it? But you could all be in it. Okay great do you guys use

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed54:42

that for staff?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed54:44

Yeah for some other things we do.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed54:46

Okay, okay great Okay any other any other comments for managers reports?

0:54 – 0:5824 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed54:53

I would like to say that there is an event that's gonna happen at the skate park this Saturday The air pizza is gonna be out there and a famous skateboarder Do we know who will be out there? Yeah. Oh, is it a secret? No. We have a flyer out his last name is Alva A-L-V-A so we've got that going on from 9 to 1. So we've had a lot of shares on our Facebook page so hopefully we'll get some people. Is he performing or like giving instructions? It's actually gonna be his birthday so he's gonna be out there celebrating his birthday but he'll be out there to meet the public as well Very exciting. I don't know how it is but...

And then I did want to mention, I know that we were going to look over at one time the meeting days and just have like a list of them. Maybe this will help the... It should

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed55:52

actually go as a formal motion in January. Okay. Well, we should put it on the agenda for December to set the dates. I mean, we know they're every Thursday but there's usually an agenda item that has all The first Thursdays of every month listed and then we adopt it by formal motion because that's what is My understanding like with the Brown Act, that's our regular meeting schedule so then if we have to cancel it and Have a special meeting or cancel it and go to a different date because you know something the buildings not available or something That's how why it becomes a special meeting because we set the regular calendar by formal motion So if we would put it on for December, although some years we didn't meet in December. That's

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed56:47

also why I'm asking. I just want to plan ahead

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed56:50

in case

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed56:50

you

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed56:50

do have one. Because even were we not meeting in January?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed56:54

I feel like the date felt like Thursday fell right close to New Year. There was something weird about probably

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed56:59

our traditional. It doesn't really matter when we should do it before January Maybe we should put that on the November agenda, so that we have plenty of time to get it accomplished because we know what the dates are going to be.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:18

I think sometimes historically they had something on future meeting dates and it would put the dates of what they were on the agenda and then you could just query people?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed57:29

But we know it's going to be on

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:30

the agenda.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed57:30

As an ongoing agenda

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:32

item? Yeah, and then they would just remind you to say who is available. Does anybody have conflicts for the next two months?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed57:40

You're saying like have it as a standing on the agenda? Yeah future meeting dates. You put the dates in there.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:46

We know what day and week it is but... Yeah, and then put the dates on there. We'll discuss it and it's like a tickler I think I mean there's no you know we can do that or

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed57:53

we

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:54

could call it next

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed57:55

month's

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed57:55

meeting and Okay, sure You want to have a few listed right? You could do like two at a time or three at a time, you know because things change

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed58:05

Yeah, I don't know at this rate.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed58:07

We might just need to go

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed58:11

I Guess the summers over for me and it's like well maybe we can cover it. I can cover it under Like under just like Commission reports we could say has everybody check their availability for next month's meeting Just

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed58:27

take a poll

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed58:28

yeah, okay good idea Yeah, it feels like old days three lonely three Okay, okay and we have a city anything else Christy no, thank you

0:58 – 1:0117 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed58:43

Not right now and when you have time I'd love to hear about summer camp like the Breakdown of that and you know all the details and how it went. I think it went great but just share with us

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed58:56

Like the numbers or do you want me

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed58:58

Yeah, just you know, you have them

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed59:01

Well, I don't have them all. I could gather you something because we did do the field trips on Wednesdays and then we had the water days on Friday so we went to a lot of cool places on Wednesday.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed59:14

You know if you have...I know you don't have time but if you would like a couple of pictures Oh, yeah. If you do it would be fun to see with your numbers and just to share with everybody.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed59:24

Okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed59:25

And highlight it. Okay.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed59:26

If you do have access to Facebook or Instagram we did post every week. She doesn't can you believe that? I know that she doesn't. That's why I'm talking to everyone else over here. I know she doesn't. Okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed59:38

so no but we do.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed59:41

Yeah, we do have an end of the week you know sort of light group update. So it's pretty neat to see but I'll print them out

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed59:48

for you. Or just put on the screen for us when you give your... It's just fun to see the pictures and share with everybody.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:00:00

Okay She has a lot of fruit more free time That's what I'm gathering.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:00:06

I have an Instagram that I turn on and turn off occasionally

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:00:10

Oh, I didn't know this okay We have a City Council liaison here tonight. Do you have a report?

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 7Proposed1:00:16

It's a pleasure to meet you as well

ElectedKim MangMayor Pro TemProposedvoiceprint 0.801:00:24

Keep doing what you're doing. I was a little nervous when I got here and thought, oh are they going to have a meeting? So I'm glad you guys pulled it off and I appreciate you so thanks for all you do. Thanks for coming.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:00:36

Okay alright and so I have Christy just to recap. I have uh for our next agenda just as a draft we'll have a playground um update. We'll get some clarification from Public Works on Dave Bangs and kind of what you know Catalog we can source from So well, you'll coordinate with the ad hoc and so that next month. We'll have a more understanding of what we can source and then we'll get an update kind of just possibly something very brief on the Shade at the solar shade at Libby I think how would you find it? Could we just put that under managers report?

1:01 – 1:0410 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:01:15

Yeah

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:01:16

Yes,

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 4Proposed1:01:17

yeah. Yeah, we could just list it under there. Yes Okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:01:22

Yes, I'd really like to know can we have that for the next couple of months. It doesn't have to be super robust but I think it would be helpful to have it as a discussion item just for the next couple of months only because A, we can make recommendations that way And if something comes up where we have information that maybe 12 o'clock is better after daylight savings time, and I just like to have that.

I think people

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:02:00

also when they look at the agenda mostly look at the discussion items.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:02:04

Yeah, I think just and it doesn't have to take a long time for us to talk about it. If the update is no, you know, no update or not meeting until next month that's fine too but I would like to see the...I'd like to really hear more about the shade. I think going over the bleachers that's a really great idea because that gets really hot there especially at the tournament as long as I guess it doesn't interfere with play And so definitely the playground, we've got the solar youth programming we already talked about. And then can we put the pan-a-cue?

Ball court? Patonk? Thank you. I wrote it phonetically first on the agenda, and then maybe in between we... Are you familiar with Peter? Because he didn't leave his phone number on here. Okay, so maybe we can reach out and get he sounded really eager to do kind of a lot of the heavy lifting on doing the research and then We can talk about if that's something that The public and the Commission can move forward If you have it on the agenda Anything else?

not transcribed≈12s of audible speech the AI couldn’t make out▸ listen
UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:03:25

I think that's good. Oh, it's almost like a repeat capture the future agenda items even though it won't be on next month doing our calendar

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:03:32

Yes, yes, I have that next month's meeting dates We'll put that I'll just put it like right here.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:03:38

Oh Yeah, but even the larger calendar too.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:03:41

Oh We can't do it yet. Just to get on there so that it's a tickler. I think Chris you wrote it in for November and then Well, and since this if the since the snack bar is gonna open up on the 15th We should leave it's almost like a repeat of what we have. Yeah to be honest Because that'll be really great to see the numbers and stuff for the next meeting because they'll have a couple weeks of service

1:04 – 1:049 turns

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed1:04:08

Okay

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:04:10

Perfect

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 3Proposed1:04:11

Thank you. Thank you

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:04:19

I'll adjourn the meeting. Thank you. Yes, that's right. I'm adjourning the meeting.

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:04:24

Official, there you

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 1Proposed1:04:27

go. OK, 7-05. All right, look

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:04:41

up here. You know, we were

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 2Proposed1:04:42

talking

UnidentifiedUnidentified speaker 6Proposed1:04:43

about designing this. Because Dave Vang? Yeah. It's just Dave Vang. And it wasn't even designed. It wasn't anything and I was like, And then I.
